The Fresh Market is from Greensboro, so I'd understand why they'd place another one there and Friendly Center would make perfect sense. However, a Trader Joes at Friendly Center would make even more sense. The location would be perfect, and I know it would definitely attract kids from UNCG and Guilford College!

Yeah, in fact their headquarters is practically IN Friendly Center, just across Green Valley Rd. right next to the O. Henry. But even so, another store right there might seem like overkill.

It could be a play on words. Jimmy Johns brands itself gourmet sandwiches.
I don't think another grocery store is needed anywhere around that area.

I see your point. I'm a former FM employee and knew they were based there but not their current locations. I love love Trader Joe's and wish they would put one closer to my house.

A Trader Joe's could breathe some well-needed fresh air into the oversized parking lot known as Friendly Center.

Triad city ranks No. 3 in U.S. for love of fast food - Greensboro - Triad Business Journal

Wonder if this could be a contributing factor as to why the boro cannot lure Trader Joe's.

Yeah, that's it.
Did you already forget TJs wanted to build near Friendly Center and residents in the area protested?

Who says G'boro can't "lure" Trader Joe's? They were apparently set to come, but neighborhood opposition killed the rezoning for the shopping center they were to be a part of. Obviously, TJ's wants to be in Greensboro, its simply a real estate decision.

And what, pray tell, is the connection between fast food sales and Trader Joe's? Complete non sequitur.

I said it first! (But yours is more eloquent. )
Aside from questioning the method used in this poll I would venture to say Gboro residents don't get a long enough lunch in their workday.

Looks like we were typing our responses simultaneously, lol. As far as the fast food rankings, I would guess Greensboro's rather large college student population, relative to its overall size, is a factor. But I'm leery of those kinds of rankings that I really don't pay any attention to them.
