Winston-Salem among top 35 most liveable cities for people 35 and under - Greensboro - Triad Business Journal

For some reason this recognition has not been acknowledged on the forum yet, but Winston-Salem, along with Charlotte and Raleigh in NC are among the top 35 most liveable cities for young people in the country.

Great news! What a turnaround from a few years ago... Smitty and his fantastic Smitty's Notes got their start as part of a concerted effort to create an attractive environment in W-S for young professionals. That sector was recognized at the time (late '90s and early 2000's) as a demographic that was declining in alarming numbers.

That's awesome. It is a pretty great city, and the combination of affordability and entertainment options do make it a good spot for the younger crowd.

I think that almost every NC city has gotten a lot cooler in the last decade, with more stuff to do focused in the downtown areas. That's true nationwide, but I've seen a huge shift in NC.

I've been spending quite a bit of time in WS lately and every time i do, I enjoy it more and more. and I'm from Greensboro.
There is just an energy in their downtown, that GSO just doesn't have.
I kinda get the impression WS dropped the idea of Triadism a long time ago, and have done an awesome job of going their own way and it shows.
