Ok so i am just getting ready to look into buying a house in the winston area. When i say area I could do clemmons or lewisville, etc as well. I work in downtown winston so i have to keep that in mind. I want a house that is around 2400 sf. 3 plus bedrooms 2 plus baths. I can spend up to 220K. I have been renting for a year so i know the area a little so I know to stay out of east winston. I love the thruway area as well as the robinhood/reynolda area. I can do new build or existing. Does anyone on here know of any good new developments going up or help to point me to an area that fits what i want in a house.

Did you notice all those first person singular references? I sure did.
And... that is a LOT of space for a singular.

The sort of home you describe wanting is typically found well outside of town
and bought by a family with kids and dogs and concerned about school districts.
Is that you?

If not.. I'd suggest looking ONLY at the smaller older homes close in.
Ardmore. West End. Maybe even parts of Buena Vista.
Be close to work and those other things you know you like.

hth

Closer in, many of the homes you are describing are either too expensive for you or much older than what you seem to want. You can compromise and get something smaller or older for your price range, or you can look farther out.

If you are willing to do something older, you can find a few places that meet your size requirements (or close) in the Country Club area. 4125 Alonzo Dr, Winston Salem, NC 27104 is For Sale - Zillow
3231 Kinnamon Rd, Winston Salem, NC 27104 is For Sale - Zillow
217 Lucerne Ln, Winston Salem, NC 27104 is For Sale - Zillow

Of course, if I were you (assuming you're flying solo), I'd get something in West End or Ardmore, but to each his or her own.

will be a we sometime but I want this house to be a place where a family is raised down the line. I want something a little more modern like with some or all hardwood floors and granite in the kitchen. I like ardmore but it is too old for me and too small. I want a nice 2 story house

Sounds to me like you're going to want to focus on Clemmons/Lewisville.

Just remember, your priorities may completely change when "I" becomes "we," and you can always sell a home and move. There's no reason to lock yourself into a "forever home" now.
