Hi! I'm relatively new to the area and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any public swimming holes in or near Greensboro? Thanks!

Do you mean lakes? Country Park has swimming in summer. Sliding Rock is fun in summer as well. Both are closed for winter.

There are pools at some of the Y branches but you have to be a member.

Only 182 days til Summer, time to plan unless a polar plunge is in the works.
There is lack of Greensboro locations on swimming holes nc site probably because all nearby lakes swimming isnt permitted like Brant, Townsend, Higgins Oak Hollow.
Closest I can think of is Hanging Rock State Park, High Rock Lake.

There's a great polar plunge on Sullivans outside of Charleston on New Year's Day. I guess it makes people feel worse than they already do.

There is no swimming at Country Park!!

There are a lot of public pools, but not many lakes have swimming beaches. A bunch of the lakes allow water skiing and boating.

coming from the NE, it does seem odd. In upstate NY almost every lake, reservoir, etc. allows swimming.

Greensboro has beautiful lakes...but no public swimming.

A lot of the public pools are very crowded (so crowded you have to wait in line to get it).

There are a lot of private pool club arrangements that are pretty affordable (hundreds of dollars type of thing)

Jordan Lake (Triangle) and Lake Norman (Charlotte) also have swimming areas, both are about 1-1.5 hours away...but you have to know during the summer, it's like swimming in bath water.
