Default Need help in finding a good preschool!

Hi All,

Happy New Year!

I have just recently relocated to Winston Salem. I need help in finding a good preschool for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. It would be really nice if any of you could give me some suggestions and reviews on preschools in this area.

Also, are there any indoor play areas for kids? We had been to the Hanes Mall a couple of times, but the play area is mostly crowded.

Thanks a lot in advance....

My kids are adults now, but.....
Ardmore Baptist Church and Ardmore Methodist Church. Both had excellent reputations several yrs ago.

I think there is a Chucky Cheese at the Pavillions on Hanes Mall Blvd.

Do you know how to send private messages on this board? You can always send me a msg if you want because I am in the same situation. I moved here last year and now my child is 2 and I have been doing tons of research trying to find things for him to do. There are some mom groups you can join online and that helped me figure things out last year. The one I use gives me access to their calendar which includes community events like storytime at Barnes and Nobles or Borders, storytime at the library, etc. It also has a good msg board where moms ask for recommendations about doctors, schools, consignment sales, etc. I recommend getting a yearly pass at the Children's museum, it really helps when it is too hot or cold. Lots of moms go to Miller's Park when the weather is nice. Piedmont Parent has a list of all the preschools in town, but I am not ready to find one until September. Bounce-U has preschool age playtime 2X a week for $6-7 for a hour or so in Lewsiville. My child loved it. I am looking into joining something like Salem Gym or Gymboree, but as far as free stuff, it is pretty much storytimes from what I can see. You are more than welcome to send me a message and I will try to help you out! Moms of toddlers need to help each other out to stay sane!!! Especially in new towns....

When asking about preschools it would help to know if you are looking for a parochial school or not. Of the secular schools, I can recommend the Montessori very highly.

The Motessori in Winston-Salem or Clemmons? I was thinking about trying the one in Clemmons because I noticed the one in Winston-Salem seemed to be affliated with a church. Is it? Thanks for any info.

oh thats awesome the childrens museum right in your neighborhood and Bounce U (sounds like something you have to pay 200 dollars a month to get here, a gym membership and family community). I take my 2 girls (15 months and 3 years old) to Toys R Us when I run out of things to do. They love climbing into all the bigwheels, and I let them get into whatever they want as if it was a playground, i dont let them run wild but we do check out each and everything (i spend 3 1/2 hours there once) on the shelves. They go right to sleep at night though. I also take them to the library and when they were younger it was tough because people are so finicky about noise but what ARE your options in the winter (note:Im in De, considering NC)?? I think thats great that there is more childrens places popping up and have often daydreamed about a time when there was twice as much for kids to do in the community, young aged kids I mean. I have often fantasized about a giant building full of toys set up into tons of little groups so kids can play, much like Headstart was like when I grew up (the idea that free play is gigantic to children). I dont want to keep buying toys for my kids because learning independent play and play with others if more important.
