Hi JoeTarheel, of course! That goes without saying, or so I thought. The OPer wanted to be specifically near W-S and I don't know of ANY chains (elem, middle, AND high) near here that offer a truly excellent school experience: for instance where: 1. Each school ranks top 1-10% so you're not moving your child/children around. 2. offers things like band, chorus and orchestra to all kids as valuable to a balanced education, 3. PE is valued and at least twice/wk, 4. The teachers are respected as professionals, and trained as such not having curriculums changed every other year or so(!)5. The school nurse is full-time, 6. Has at least one full-time social worker per school for the students/families who need one to fill in gaps the students/families experience so all the students rise to their potential...

Even the highly rated Reagan HS or West Forsyth HS have EOC math numbers of just 68(ouch!) barely above the state average of just 60%. Or if the OPer were to hop counties and go to Oak Ridge's NW Guilford HS, it only has 78% succeeding in math!! This region just doesn't compare to say, Cave Spring HS in Roanoke where all their subjects tested are scoring in the 90s! That's excellence!!

I was just hoping to give the OP the real-life facts & a picture as I've experienced it in this part of the state. She can take/leave it

There again, I don't see test scores as a valid metric for rating schools...if every other area is excellent and one test score is low, then that shouldn't stop someone from sending his child to that school.

I would think that the West and Reagan chains do meet most if not all of your criteria when it comes to respected professionals, PE, extra curriculars, and top 10%. I don't know about nurses and social workers, but full time social workers may not be needed at every school.
