Technology Overtakes Tobacco in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Nice piece on the developments in and around Wake Forest Innovation Quarter.

Good article...thanks for posting. That area of downtown has turned 180 degrees within just a few years, and should provide a solid foundation for continued growth and development.

That was a great article, and just a few weeks after a piece in Huffington Post that hit a few of the same notes. Trading Tobacco and Textiles for Live Music and Award-Winning Films*|*Lisa Snedeker

Gonna be honest, i didn't know there were two active research parks in the triad, Namely Wake Forrest innovation quarter and Gateway University Research Park.

I always thought the only research park was in the Triangle.

That's pretty cool for the triad!

Honestly the one in Greensboro doesn't hold a candle to this one. Wake Forest Innovation Quarter has 45 companies/departments in at least 18 buildings on 200 acres downtown that already employees as many as Gateway ever plans to at full capacity. With a new park and residential buildings it has become the main catalyst for downtown Winston-Salem.

]Honestly i don't really think that was necessary.

Oof. Can we avoid running a positive thread into the ground? Gateway is a neat place too, but has nothing to do with this particular article or thread.

Why did you bring it up then? There was no reason in the world to mention Greensboro's little fledgling park. You totally invited my comment...don't act like you didn't.

It's like me going to a thread about the Greensboro Coliseum and saying "Gracious me, I didn't even know there were two large arenas in the Triad; Joel Coliseum and Greensboro Coliseum. Will you look at that!" as if they are equal arenas when they aren't. That comment would have no business in that thread.

Funny thing...you just posted this comment in the GATEWAY UNIVERSITY RESEARCH PARK thread back in March: "Didn't know there was a research park in Greensboro." So why did you just say you didn't know about them? Hmmmm...
