renderings of an updated pavilion for the NBA D League team at the Greensboro Coliseum. The design could still change but this shows what it could look like. The team name and the name of the field house will go along with the Hornets brand so the team could be called something like the Greensboro Swarm for example. It will be the only D League team in the southeast when it launches next year.
I'm not very familiar with the D-League, but I look forward to this. Sounds like they want to add 10 more teams, so each team will have its own D-league team, which makes sense to me. I'm a big fan of minor league baseball, and I will definitely check them out. I'm a bit surprised they didn't choose a larger venue, but perhaps 2,500 seats is typical? With minor league baseball able to fill 2-3 times that many seats with multiple teams in the region, I wonder if they will eventually outgrow the Pavilion.

The d league average attendance is in 2-3 thousand range & I'm sure the Hornets want to keep costs manageable at the same time. Leasing the pavilion is probably cheaper & the Hornets control the facility instead of competing with other events that want to use the special events center
True the special events center has a 3,000 plus mini arena but use using that space would compete with other events. While the pavilion would have a smaller seating capacity I think it's a fit for the team. During lower attendance games it least it will still look like a packed house.
