Hey all!

I'm looking for a good, trustworthy, knowledgeable mechanic in the triad area. Preferably the Greensboro area. I do not want one associated with any dealerships. Someone who is an independent, ASE certified mechanic that I can bring any make, model, or year to. The reasons will range anywhere from a mechanic who can do regular tune ups, inspections, check over perspective vehicles I plan to purchase in the future, to one who can replace/rebuild engines and transmissions. Someone who is reasonably priced and competitive with the dealerships' service department.

I guess it doesn't have to be just one mechanic for all makes. I would be willing to accept a list of guys (or gals) for different makes and models, just need to know who I can trust to take my vehicles to besides the dealership.

Go to Steve's at Friendly. If Steve can't do it, he'll know someone who can.

Ditto on Steve's. I've used him for many years.

For Honda's only...

Triad Auto Specialty

Honest, can do anything a dealer can.

He is a great guy. He is/was nice to my elderly parents.

Can anyone recommend same type of mechanic for Winston-Salem? 2009 Toyota Corolla. Great car. No problems (yet, but don't expect any).

You might want to think about waiting until you get to your neighborhood. Talk to your people there, and see who they use.

So now, I'll ask the same question in regards to mechanics who work on lawn mowers. Who's the best at working on lawn equipment?

I wanted to bump this thread and comment on Triad Auto Specialty. Sure enough, my Honda had a pressure switch to go bad, causing my car to feel as if the transmission was going out in it. Took it over to them last night, and they already have it fixed today, and much less than what I expected it to cost! They seemed pretty nice on the phone too. They called me to let me know what the problem was and how much is was going to cost, and then called me a few hours to tell me it was done. I can't wait to get over there and get my car back in the morning. I will definitely refer Honda or Acura owner to them!

In the Winston-Salem area, we use different places depending on which vehicle of ours is being worked on.

For Hondas and Acuras, we use GT Imports in Clemmons
For Volvo, we use MasterTechs in Winston-Salem. They ONLY work on Volvos.
For BMW, we use Motorsport Connections in Winston-Salem. They probably work on Mini also.
