Hi: I'm planning a move to W-S in the next several months, and would like to rent a place in the area for 1-3 months this summer so I can make a more informed decision about long-term housing. I've looked on AirBnB, Craigslist, HomeAway.com, and other sites, but am not finding a lot of places that would meet my needs for a short-term rental. Are there any local listings where I'm likely to find more options?

My requirements:
* Dog-friendly (happy to discuss the particulars of this, make a substantial security deposit, etc.)
* Whole apartment or house (single-family home is preferred)
* Furnished (I can provide some things if necessary but would prefer not to furnish a whole place)
* At least 1 BR/1 bath (i.e., not a studio/efficiency)
* Within ~15-minute drive of downtown W-S

My nice-to-haves:
* Private fenced outdoor area (yard/patio)
* Washer/dryer

My budget is up to ~$1300/month. I'm a responsible nonsmoking woman, early 40s, a small business owner and a nice person. I will treat this rental as I would my own home. I'd like to rent starting as soon as mid-June but I'm flexible regarding dates.

Thank you in advance for any leads!

You could try calling Wake Forest University and see if they maintain a list of furnished rentals that landlords make available to students. Also call the Downtown W-S Partnership and see if they know of any furnished, short term rentals that are available.

I googled "corporate housing, winston-salem" and this apartment complex came up. I see that they do offer "short term leases":

Brandemere Apartments

and this:

Winston-Salem Extended Stay, Corporate Housing & Winston-Salem Furnished Apartments

Did you see this on Craigslist?:

Default Thanks!!

carolinadawg2, thanks so much!! I don't know how I missed that listing on craiglist--I must have looked at that page 3 or 4 times in the last couple of days. I've sent an inquiry about that one. There was another home listed that looked perfect, but it was listed in April and the person hasn't responded to me, so I'm guessing it's no longer available.

I've started searching some of the off-campus/medical center housing listings and zillow... it looks like I may have to compromise on getting a place that's furnished, which I guess isn't the worst thing in the world.

I've looked at some of the extended-stay rentals; I will consider going that route if I can't find a house, but given that I have dogs I'd strongly prefer to rent a stand-alone home than a suite or apartment.

Thanks again--I really appreciate the input!

Thanks again--amazingly, someone I contacted on AirBnB worked out, so I have a furnished place downtown for a month this summer. Much easier than I had expected!
