I'm a Retired NCO and current VA employee. We're looking to relocate and retire somewhere in NC down the road.

What are some nice, middle class areas to consider that aren't to far from Military or VA Healthcare facitlities ?

TIA

Kernersville is a nice, small town. The VA will soon open a large outpatient clinic there, and its close to Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

Are you looking for only in the Triad region? I'm assuming so as you posted here but you're actual post wasn't specific.

I ask as the VA is building a 300k sq ft VA medical complex over 35 acres in Charlotte. I also know some retired military (army) people who chose the Raleigh area due to its VA medical offerings and the close proximity to Fort Bragg.

In the Triad I do agree with the above about Kernesville.

There is a big VA hospital in Salisbury, and one is Durham.

The "military" towns are Fayetteville, Jacksonville, and Goldsboro. There are retirees in all 3, and they are fine. But none would be my first choice if I were picking a place to live.

Right now we're leaning towards the Asheville area. I know there is a VA there as well. We like the mountain region a lot.

We're pretty much open to suggestions and input at this time.
