So I moved to Burlington, NC in January of this year.

Nice area, nice people, great weather...can't complain about anything but the JOB MARKET!
I'm an HR Professional with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelors degree and still can't find a job.

As sad as it is, it's not why I'm writing this post. Besides working I do have other hobbies such as photography. Now I know what some might say "Here we go, another photographer wanna be" which may or may not be true.

So let me get to the point, I was thinking of turning my hobby into a part time job. I don't expect to make millions but would be nice to have a small income while I'm searching for a full time job.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to actually market yourself and obtain small photography jobs?
I tried Craigslist, no it did not work...looking for other suggestions

I think you'd get better responses on this C-D Forum:

You might also want to talk to your local small business assistance center (usually found at community colleges), SBA or SCORE.

I'd suggest contacting Alamance Community College's Small Business Center.

You might want to pop over the photography forum as well. I checked out your landscape photos. Awesome!
I recognized some Utah mountains. Correct?

And your reason for moving here without a job was...??

(and "they say" nobody ever, EVER would do such a thing)

It helps know whether she is available to seek employment elsewhere, or whether she is "tied" here, for one.

It would be great if you actually tried to provide as much help as you do useless "why" questions and general snark.

Default Here's an idea

Here's one I've always wanted to do myself.

There's plenty of Farmers Markets, festivals, and sporting events like Rodeos.

You can easily obtain a small table and sell prints of your work.
You can buy new frames at dollar stores cheaper than at most used thrift stores (... but there's often some "finds" at the thrift stores too.)

A buddy of mine lost his job and got into horse photography. His wife had a couple of horses and they started going around to equestrian events and made good money just charging $15 to $25 dollars a pic.

If you have a decent printer setup, you can photograph some digital photos and sell them on the spot.

It was so good that they ended up traveling around the country for ... I think it was 7 years.

Like they say: "Every problem is an opportunity in work clothes."
