We are looking to move to the Winston-Salem area and have toddlers that love to play outside. We are moving from a place where every home has a fenced in back yards. We are not seeing a lot of these looking at homes online. Are their neighborhoods with fences out there?

I don't think its possible to generalize about neighborhoods with fences. Some houses have them, some don't. Where have you been looking? Have you looked in Ardmore or Sherwood Forest?

The only fenceless neighborhoods one might encounter would be those where a HOA forbids fences. Other than that finding a house with a fenced yard should not be difficult.

I actually understand this problem. Coming from Tennessee, where a developed neighborhood usually means a net of interconnecting 6ft privacy fences, we had a really hard time finding a house to rent that had a fence in the backyard. This may not seem odd, but is really weird coming from my area where you would be hard pressed to find a neighborhood where the majority of houses did not have a fence.

Thank you for the replies - and being able to relate MattPharmd! We are heading there this upcoming weekend to get a feel for the area and check out some neighborhoods. Thank you for the suggestions carolinadawg2. Any other neighborhoods we should check out? We are looking for homes about $200k and below.
