Yep after speculation whether or not he'll actually play after entering it's finally official. Tiger Woods will indeed play in the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro. Woods combined with a few other big players means this will be the best field the event has had since Sam Snead played in Greensboro decades ago.

Look: I know Woods has incredible name recognition, but he's 286th in the world golf standings here. There are guys in the Wyndham who are playing MUCH better golf. Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Billy Horschel, Bill Haas, Martin Kaymer, Brandt Snedeker, Charl Schwartzel and others are top 50 golfers and will be there. As will all-time greats without Woods' checkered past like Ernie Els.
I really don't care what his rank is now...he's Tiger Woods and its a big deal that he is coming to Greensboro. The national media is even making a big deal about the fact it will be the first time he's playing here.

They're making a deal out of the fact that the Wyndham is his only shot at the FedEx Cup playoffs, and it's a remote shot at that. He'd have to finish second, solo, and his performance at Whistling Straits doesn't suggest that's likely. But that's the headline.
And as I said before, I know he's a household name. I'm saying that there are many golfers who are playing much better than Tiger (and without the drama or the fanfare) who were playing the Wyndham before Woods jumped aboard and who are more likely to walk away with a share of the purse.
With a really pretty chip-in birdie and some other nice shots. He's playing well.
