May be moving to Greensboro this Spring. Do not know much about the area. My husband is from Czech Republic and I lived abroad for many years. My son is 3. So, we are interested in living in a diverse community with warm and open-minded individuals. Living in a brand-spanking new development with only young white SUV-owning professionals is not what we are seeking, in other words. I do not mean to offend- everyone has different needs and I respect that. But as we do not know anyone in NC, we would greatly appreciate advice. Thanks

There are many neighborhoods near the Western Guilford school district (near Guilford College) that would be up your alley. I went to high school there, and although I do not remember any Czechs, I did have a few Russian, many Bosnian and other Eastern European classmates/friends.

Also, the neighborhood which I grew up in (Rolling Roads) near the Four Seasons Mall, is a good mix of Asians (mainly from Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea), Blacks and Whites.

I would just come by and take a visit for yourself if you can make the time. Other great neighborhoods I would recommend are Sunset Hills, Lindley Park and the Lake Daniel area. This would be for the open-mindedness and also there are a good mix of ethnicities there.

Personally, I am Jewish, and although there really isn't a concentrated "Jewish neighborhood", many of us live near the temples and synagogues (off of Jefferson Road, Friendly Ave., etc.). If you would like to have that kind of flavor to your neighborhood.

I hope this helps.

The most diverse neighborhood in Greensboro is Glenwood. Period. Black, White, Yellow, Red, orange, purple, you name it. Even some robots live there (hah! My friend Dave has a giant robot suit that he wears for kids events and he lives on Lexington Avenue).

Plus, the Neighborhood Association is adopting a conservation plan to help the neighborhood which the city council is voting on either this evening or tomorrow evening (I forget which).
