Hi everyone,

My wife is looking at a job in the Browns Summit area and I am wondering if I can get some opinions of the area before we plan to look around the state.

Our info:
- We are in our 40's and currently have to drive an hour to Milwaukee or Madison for city stuff which isn't an issue. We are home bodies who don't look for night life. We would rather have a fire in the backyard and watch the stars than go to the city.
- We have no kids and have no plans for kids.
- I have my own business will be working from home wife is currently talking to someone about a job in NC
- We are in a subdivision now in central WI, 180k ranch, 4k in taxes, 1/4 - 1/2 acre lots in our subdivision which means everyone is on top of everyone and we want to look for more country setting, maybe an an acre or 2. Definitely don't want to be in a subdivision, city again.
- We have an RV that I would need to keep on our property so some land for storage would be ideal
- We enjoy remodeling so an older farmhouse isn't a stretch
- We travel to SC every year in our RV from WI so we know that area and areas we have driven through but not familiar with the northern Greensboro areas.
- Concerns mostly are crime, drugs, etc.. would hate to have to feel unsafe in any area, any areas to avoid?

Is the area worth coming to see knowing a bit about us?

Thanks everyone!!

Jon

Browns Summit (and thanks for making sure the "s" is there...it irks me to see it spelled "Brown Summit") is basically part of north Greensboro now. I think you could easily find what you're looking for in northern Guilford County, southern Rockingham County or western Alamance County (basically north and east of Browns Summit). Lots of "country" in that area. Definitely worth checking out, imo.

I don't think you'll have trouble finding a house. Here is a 3/2 on 1.6 acres for $164,900 not far from Browns Summit:

Property taxes will be about $1,100 per year.

I think it's really pretty up there. Sounds like it's just right for the OP.
