Going to a concert at the Coliseum. Is there free parking around? If so where?

I've parked on side streets in the past, but there isn't any free parking in the immediate area. There are private lots that do charge less than the coliseum. Just bring some extra money.

There is usually plenty of free on street parking just east of the coliseum. You can usually find places only a couple of blocks away. Look between South Aycock and Coliseum Blvd.

That's misleading because the coliseum is surrounded by residential neighborhoods, depending on the event, what LITTLE side street parking there is can fill pretty fast.

Remember when the Greensboro Coliseum looked like this before a major expansion and a redesign of the exterior?

Today

Here is the coliseum in the 1950s before the first big expansion in the mid 1970s

In the 1940s before the coliseum was built it was the site of the Greensboro fairgrounds and a NASCAR dirt track

Interesting history of the Coliseum.
I had always wondered why Greensboro did not have Fair Grounds, or Fairs but looks like they did.
I know they do the GYC carnival , but its not really the same.
I would love if GSO had something like the Dixie Classic Fair.

Whenever I drive by the Coliseum, I also wonder why there is a picture of a Football Player and a baseball player wearing a Virginia Jersey posted up on the street side .

That's the ACC Hall of Fame you're seeing but, I think it could be a bit more locally biased.

I remember when the ACC Hall of Fame idea was first floated around in the 1990s. Some wanted to see it built downtown.

We stopped in once, disappointing really. It seems to be of a distraction more than attraction for those looking to kill time while attending events. Being a NCSU fan if you didn't know anything about the school you wouldn't know Jimmy V ever existed. The displays are very limited and some are in disrepair.

They had actually talked about doubling the size of the ACC Hall of Fame eventually. Really there needs to be more fun and entertaining interactive displays. Its one of those place people attend when they happen to be going to a sports event at the coliseum. Its doesn't draw the kind of tourist that the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte draws and even there attendance has been very low and the NASCAR Hall of Fame is losing money. Some have questioned why NASCAR didn't put it at Daytona where there is more tourists and its where the Daytona 500 takes place. The Piedmont cities are just not tourist destinations.
