Hello,

We are an Asian (Indian) family planning to move to Oak Ridge area this summer from Virginia. I have looked at some houses in the Twelve Oak Community in Oak Ridge, NC. Could you please share details about how this community is? I have two daughters 15 and 11 and we are looking for safety, family friendly, community pool, tennis etc. Good schools are obviously on top of the list. My daughter is in a gifted program. Any advise on the Early College Guilford will be highly appreciated such as quality, ease of admission and anything else you may like to share. Thanks so much for your help!!!

Oak Ridge is a good as it gets in the triad for top rated public schools, safety, and being family friendly. I know there is the Oak Ridge community pool near the entrance to Twelve Oaks across highway 150. Also within walking distance of Twelve Oaks is the Oak Ridge town park that has walking trails, soccer fields, picnic shelters, etc. As far as the Early College of Guilford, it is a very good school and I believe you need to apply and interview for the limited amount of seats that are offered at the school. The public schools that serve Oak Ridge are also some of the highest rated schools in the metro area. So either way you really cant go wrong with the Early College or Oak Ridge schools.

We came very close to moving to Oak Ridge when we moved to the Triad in 2011. The excellent schools and family-friendly neighborhoods were the biggest draw.

I live in Oak Ridge, although not the Twin Oaks community. That said, I can't imagine living anywhere else in the Triad.
