Hi all,

I am relocating to NC from Mississippi. My new position is in Greensboro, but I'd prefer to live closer to Charlotte. Is there a nice city/town between the two? I'd be willing to make a 45 minute commute to work if necessary.

The main ones seem to be Lexington, Salisbury

There are many, many towns between Charlotte and Greensboro. Lexington is my favorite (hometown!) and it's 45 mins or so to Charlotte and 35 mins to Greensboro.

Is it feasible to commute to Greensboro from Concord?

It's feasible, as long as a 70-mile commute and 1 hour and 15 minute commute each way is bearable.

I wouldn't do that. I traveled that stretch of I-85 a lot when I lived in Greensboro, and it is not a pleasant drive, IMO.

Well, the trip would most likely involve I-85 the whole way. If the O/P could figure out what two exits would be involved, then it would be easy enough to calculdate the distance, and time required, keeping in mind that from Lexington to Greensboro the speed limit is 70. There shouldn't be any normal hold-ups or heavy traffic in either direction.

Salisbury would be the midway point. 45 minutes to Greensboro and 45 minutes here to Charlotte.

Salisbury has really grown and has alot of chain restaurants and conveniences!

Very nice little city too!

And the commute to Greensboro where they have alot less traffic would be easier than the commute to Charlotte which would be aweful!

I can understand wanting to be closer to Charlotte. Alot bigger and alot more to do. Greensboro & Winston-Salem are nice don't get me wrong, but Charlotte is OUTSTANDING!
