Hi, I'm sure this question has been asked before and probably many times.
My son, husband and I are planning on moving to NC, possibly High Point. I'm graduating this June to be a Nuclear Medicine tech and we've been toying with an idea to move somewhere warmer than Mass. There's a job opening at High Point for me so I might have a chance to get it. So, since I've never been in NC I was curious as to how much should we expect to pay for a rental house or appartment, 2 bedroom. How's the area, nice? How are schools there? My son is in 1st grade right now. We're also very involved in motocross and heard that there're a lot of tracks there, is that so? Thanks for your time everyone. |

As other people say, make sure you get your job first. I got my master's from BC, and now am living in Greensboro/High Point area. My daughter is in kinder at Southwest Guilford Elementary (SWE). I think you better live in Northern HP if you want to be closer to your potential employer. Most areas in Northern HP belong to the SWE zone, and SWE is a good school if not great. The best elementary school in the whole Triad area seems to be Oak Ridge Elementary, which is in the NW part of Guilford county. You may consider Clemmons in Forsyth county which I am looking at now. It may take 20-30 minutes based on where you work and live, but traffic is nothing serious.

I'd concur. Stay to the North side of HP, or in Jamestown, and you'll do fine.
A house/condo rental is unlikely to be less than 1000/month. A 2BR apartment would most likely be in the 850-1000/month range. |

$1,000/mo is a bit too much $$ for us, I was hoping to find something cheaper, also it'd be nice to have some land with the property. Maybe I'm asking for too much? I was thinking in a $500-600 range.

$500? You are asking too much, I mean, too little. This isn't Boston, but you still need to pay some. I guess you can find a 2-bed room apartment with $500, but I doubt you will like the neighborhood. Having said that, however, if cheap living is THE reason you want to move, there are several areas with 500-600 bucks for 2-bdrm. But, you have to sacrifice your kid's school zone.
