Is is possible for Greensboro to have a snowless winter? I was asking about it in a Greenville, SC vs. Greensboro, NC thread in the SC forum. (I know, probably not the best place to ask about Greensboro)

Thanks.

We usually get a little snow (a few inches), but it wouldn't surprise me if we got some snowless winters. Though it would disappoint me. We seem to have a greater chance of getting ice than snow, unfortunately.

What about road salt? Does Greensboro ever use it?

I don't like it because it wrecks cars, nice leather shoes and burns salt-intolerant plants beside the road. I suppose if it's used, but used less often it might not be so bad... Oh and road salt is soooo messy! It's almost impossble not to track it indoors on the bottom of your shoes or boots.

Raleigh has started using the salt water instead. It lowers the freeze point without the sand/salt mix. Does coat you car but washes off easy and does not have the abrasive sand or gravel in it to chip the cars paint.

Much better.

Charlotte too. Washes off the roads and cars easily after the snow.
