"The status of Winston-Salem as the U.S. homebase for British American Tobacco PLC was made clearer Wednesday by the globaltobacco giant. If regulators and shareholders approve BAT’s $49.4 billion offerfor Reynolds American Inc., the company would become BAT’s largest globalsubsidiary. “BAT has no plans to close or move the head office inWinston-Salem, nor make any significant changes to the current high-qualitymanufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Tennessee, nor to the trademarketing team,” BAT said in a regulatory filing. “It does not see the need tomake material changes, post-completion, to the way Reynolds and itssubsidiaries operate.” The declaration was part of the initial rolling out ofBritish and U.S. regulatory filings related to the ground-breaking offer."
