In addition Greensboro snags the national YMCA Championships at the aquatic center for another 3 years beating out a bid from Orlando.

With all these events and money that they make you would
Think that Greensboro would make the whole area welcoming to tourist, instead of being rundown.

What do you suggest? I think the streetscaping, the Visitor's Bureau building renovation, the outdoor amphitheater and the aquatic center have all been big positives for the area. Plus there's been some private investment like the Natty Greene's tasting room, and UNCG's new developments along Gate City/Lee St are helping to connect the coliseum area to downtown. Short of buying up the less desirable private businesses all around there, what more can the city do?

That's kinda been the plan for a while now.

I just wish they would build an outdoor pool I can swim in that's open later than 5.

Competition is fierce trying to attract major swimming events. The opening of the Greensboro Aquatic Center which is the largest in the state in terms of seating capacity prompted Charlotte to update the Meck County Aquatic Center. The Triangle Aquatic Center near Cary will be building a National Diving Center next to its facility and now Asheville is considering building an Aquatic Center.

Maybe invest some of the millions that's going downtown to the coliseum area and four seasons area those are the two money makers for the greensboro area but nobody cares about them. Seems like the city doesn't either. Put a police station in between the mall and the coliseum maybe that might help.

You mean like the $13 million streetscape project?

Greensboro Streetscape Project More Than Halfway Finished

Or the $20 million in Coliseum improvements:

Greensboro approves bond for coliseum improvements, construction for new basketball team | News | greensboro.com

Or the $18.8 million the city spent on the aquatic center and ampitheater?

Yeah, the city just doesn't care!

No I mean like coming up with creative ways to get people to start coming back to the mall area and stopping the random shootings at the mall and getting rid of the porn stores and strip clubs and all the other run down businesses and motels around there. Like that

You said (in post #7 above): "Maybe invest some of the millions that's going downtown to the coliseum area..."

What creative solutions do YOU have to the issues you raised?
