I think we now know what is probably going to take up part or all of the old Dillards space. Dillards moved to the Belk space after Belk closed at Four Seasons. If they use all three floors, it could end up being one of their larger locations and include other attractions that some of the locations have such as golf and a skating rink. But its likely they will just use one of the floors since Round Ones are typically about 55,000 square feet. I think this is step in the right direction for Four Seasons, indoor malls can't survive by retail alone anymore and it would begin to set the mall apart from Friendly Center which is the more desired place to shop.

Round One will be a good fit for Greensboro. They are commonly located in malls.

But I'm pretty sure its going in the old Dillards space. Just recently it was announced that a Round One is going to take up a former Macy's space at a mall in Illinois. Bowling amusement centers in malls are a new trend and Greensboro will be the first in the state to have a facility like this in its mall.

The entire mall could be a epic center type project that would be really nice with lots of entertainment and some shopping more like 70% entertainment/restaurants/bars 30% shopping.

I think this concept goes for a completely different demographic of people then would an upscale bowling alley downtown or a comedy club (both of which the Triad badly needs.... especially the comedy club).

As for TopGolf, I think we will see one in the Triad sooner rather than later. It's just a matter of where and exactly when.

Unless this is closing (which future show dates indicate otherwise), Greensboro already has a comedy club.

The Comedy Zone

I agree that a downtown upscale cocktail lounge bowling alley would serve a different demographic (millennials/young proffesionals). I think one downtown would likely be smaller than your typical 30 to 40 lane bowling alley. It would likely have 10 to 12 lanes and have a very upscale setting. It would be more of a social bar setting that includes bowling. There is certainly room for both an upscale bowling alley downtown and a bowling alley amusement center at the mall. The one at the mall will cater to families. Hopefully Roy Carroll is planning some sort of bowling lounge with his Aloft project downtown.

Greensboro does have the Comedy Zone but downtown needs a good comedy club. The Idiot Box use to be downtown. It's a small improv comedy club which moved to Lawndale Ave. I went to a show at the Idiot Box one time and not once did I laugh.

This website says Round One Bowling will be between 50,000 and 100,000 square feet. If its on the high end of the square footage this is going to be a really large bowling and amusement center. It would have to take up more than one floor of the old Dillards space if that is the case.

This round 1 does not cater to just families it stays open past 12am and you have to be 21 after 9 so maybe in the day time it's for families but it turns into an adults spot after 9 it looks like.

Judging by the links to the pictures I posted, this is going to be a very nice place. It is very similar to Dave and Busters and I believe it is Round 1's main competitor. Opening date for Round 1 is spring of next year.

The Comedy Zone
You serious Clark? I meant a REAL comedy club that brings in bigger acts from out of town. I meant a comedy club that brings in at least an occasional act from someone I've heard of. See also The Funny Bone (Virginia Beach and Richmond each have one). Or even The Comedy Zone in Charlotte. The Greensboro Comedy Zone isn't even in the same stratosphere. Just comparing the websites tells you what you need to know.

And yes, I knew that Greensboro had a Comedy Zone before. I just don't consider it a legitimate comedy club, though maybe I should have specified that Greensboro needs a REAL comedy club.

This is what REAL comedy clubs look like. The Triad needs something like this. Not a pretender like the Greensboro Comedy Zone. And let's get it downtown.

Exactly. I have yet in my 5 years of living here seen any club in the Triad bring in a comedy act that I'm interested in seeing. Small acts and improv are fun once in a while but I used to go out to comedy clubs constantly. I have yet to do so here.

For the record, this is the club I've been comparing them to. We saw so many big acts here, in an upscale environment, and I miss it terribly.: http://www.parlorlive.com/parlor-live-comedy-club.html

And yes, I'm aware of how bougie I sound. lol

Round One preps for opening 50,000-square-foot entertainment center at Triad mall
In addition to 16 regulation bowling lanes, the venue will have billiards, table tennis, darts, karaoke and about 300 video games.

Target opening date is January 27th. It will be the first location in North Carolina and the 20th nation wide. Its a lot like Dave and Busters.
