We are looking for a place to buy for vacation and eventually retirement but want a large lake that is clean, I've heard not so good things about Lake Gaston recently but was wondering if anyone had any information about Lake Kerr or any other lakes close to northern NC and Southern VA? Thanks for suggestions and input.

The people who live on the lake will always give a bad report. They are hoping you will stay away.

I've always wanted to retire to Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, VA.

Kerr or Gaston would be my picks if looking at a lake near NC/VA.

Kerr & Gaston aren't considered in the Triad. You might think about reposting your inquiry in the general NC forum, especially if you want broader feedback.
