Come to Mebane. It's great! Cost of living is cheaper here and you will definitely find a good deal on a house. There is almost no crime here -- it is extremely rare for anything bad to happen. People are so nice here and you will love the location. You are exactly in between Burlington and Chapel Hill and just a little further each way to get to Raleigh or Greensboro. We have new restaurants, etc. opening up all the time, but the city council is extremely picky about what it will allow to be built here, business-wise.

About Mebane ... can you have a home-based business there? I was looking at Chatham County and noticed a lot of signs out on the roads where you can advertise your HBB. I liked that a great deal - my BF had heart surgery last year and has lasting damage from diabetes - he is having trouble finding work. He works with wood so we were thinking maybe he could just have his shop out back and build things for people where if he feels bad, he can stop and rest (and work on the wood if he feels good), etc.

What shopping do you have? We're a little spoiled by having a Home Depot and Lowes for him and a Walmart or Target options. I just like having a Harris Teeter or some sort of good market to buy produce and decent meat.

thanks!

Martha

we have a lowes in town and a walmart. there is a home depot in hillsborough (15 minutes), and target at southpoint in durham (20-25 minutes). harris teeter in burlington, and a brand new lowes foods opening in may here in Mebane.
as far as having a HBB, yes they are allowed, but you need to check if you are in a subdivision, they may not allow out buildings, etc.

Well, I had my first interview with a company there last week. I got the job, but they didn't want to pay enough and I'd have take a pay cut. This depressess me because I want to move to this area so bad! Everything I've researched looks wonderful. Mebane looks like a wonderful place and I'm very excited to move somewhere into the area.

Anyone know someone that would like to employ a bank manager with a college education and a nine year work history? I'm only 25 to boot! I probably have two dozen applications floating in the area. Hopefully, someone will jump at it.

Default Any Luck w/ the Job?

Any luck finding a job yet? If not I might be able to make some suggestions. I live in the Mebane area and know several of the local bank managers. Would be glad to help out.
