What is Greensboro airport like to get in and out of? Would be heading south (to Lexington NC), prefer to avoid Charlotte Douglas airport.

Its super easy to get in and out of. It isn't very busy, and operates way under capacity.

Thanks, sounds like my kind of airport. CLT is just way too big and too busy plus I understand there's lots of construction going on.

Yeah, I'll echo BC1960 on this one. I love PTI airport. Pretty convenient for me since I'm, maybe 10 minutes from it, but the only downfall is that you can get cheaper flights out of Raleigh or Charlotte sometimes.

I've been checking prices and surprisingly I am finding about the same price from Boston to GSO as to CLT. As long as I can find a connecting flight through CLT (and not DCA or PHL), I'll be happy.

Looks like a nice airport, thanks all.

Make sure you have plenty of time for your connection in Charlotte. If you have to change terminals, you need at least an hour. AA is bad about making 35 minute connections that unless you can run the mile in 10 minutes, you will miss your flight. CLT is a horrible airport to get around in.

We've learned the hard way to have at least 2 hours connecting time (to allow for late departures and terminal E to terminal C arrivals/departures). One time, recently, we were in Wilmington waiting for a 9:30am departure to Charlotte when our plane (at the gate) was hit by lightening, the airport was hit by lightening, and the airport personnel had to import a maintenance crew. As it turned out, we had to rebook our flight (to Boston); the only flight we could get on left Wilmington NC @ 4 PM, arrived Charlotte 5 PM, departed Charlotte @ 5:40 PM, arrived Boston around 8 PM. When we landed at CLT, we had to run from terminal E to terminal C and were the last boarders on our departure (no easy task since I was 74, husband was 84. So, I would prefer to sit in the airport for 3 hours than ever do that again. CLT is a nice airport, but HUGE. So the idea of Greensboro is quite appealing.

Second on plenty of time for connections. I guess the software "assumes" the connection is always at the next gate. Some connections that are offered are ridiculous. Good luck.

I absolutely love flying in/out of PTI/GSO. Occasionally, it has been less expensive to fly GSO -> CLT -> final destination than just doing CLT -> final destination. One of those trips, the GSO->CLT leg was canceled and we had to drive to CLT. One time, there was literally one other person in the security "line" along with me. He had precheck so I had to wait like 30 seconds. lol

One of the best and least crowded airports I've ever flown out of. Meanwhile at CLT, I got strip searched after "sky cops" found talcum powder in my dopp kit.
