Has anyone heard anything about Trader Joes bringing a store to the Greensboro area? Is there a Whole Foods here in Greensboro?

we used to have one i think, however, they probably lost that battle due to Earth Fare, Deep Roots and The Fresh Market. We also have two farmer's market stations in town. You want healthy, we got healthy...you want Whole Foods? Winston-Salem is your closest bet.

A no-go from Trader Joe’s

Sorry, Greensboro.

You’re not in our
two-year plan. And neither is Winston-Salem or High Point.

That’s the word from Alison Mochizuki, a spokeswoman for specialty grocer Trader Joe’s.

Rumors have been flying that the retailer, which has popped up in Cary and Charlotte, might be looking here — particularly now that Fresh Market is leaving a prime space at the Colonial Shoppes at Quaker Village near
Guilford College. But the Triad isn’t on the private company’s list right now, Mochizuki said last week.

Those other places are so much more expensive. I'm so surprised by that decision. Oh well i guess I'll have to keep my personal shopper in Charlotte. Thanks for that info

The Triad is a little too small and not as affluent as most current Trader Joe markets. They only recently entered the Triangle and Charlotte markets.

^^They're putting one in Greenville, SC which is around the same size as Greensboro. I'll show you the site plan if you don't believe me.

^^How is it shocking? Madison, WI has one and their metro area isn't any bigger than Greensboro's. Magnolia Park Shopping Mall in Greenville, South Carolina 15,000sf gourmet grocery is a proposed Trader Joes. No reason Greensboro can't get one seeing how Greenville is.

Plus we have Fresh Market and Harris Teeter which are both doing their best to nail down the market covered by Trader Joe's. TJ is nice tho.

^^But we have Whole Foods Market, Fresh Market, and Earth Fare. If Trader Joes thinks they can survive here along with those other three than there is no reason why they would think different of Greensboro. I think it's only a matter of time before they show up in the Triad.
