Greensboro along with Asheville made the top 12 list for best music towns in the country. The city's music culture is a reason the National Folk Festival was held here.

one of twelve "lesser-known" music towns...but still good to see some publicity.

Yeah i think that's fair to clarify. Greensboro's worthy of recognition but the articles not saying it's up there with a Nashville, Memphis, or Detroit etc. Its just saying it's a solid underrated music city. Good article.

It's easily in the second tier in North Carolina. There's some good stuff happening there, but it doesn't compare to Asheville or the Triangle.

Interestingly Asheville made the same list.

I saw. I like Greensboro, but there's just a lot more music happening in the Triangle, IMO. Maybe they just couldn't pick one city out of the Triangle. I don't think we need to compete, though. We can all be proud of the musical heritage of NC. And way to go G-boro's own Rhiannon Giddens, MacArthur Genius Grant!! Whoo-hoo!

North Carolina is just incredibly rich musically in all genres from classical to jazz to bluegrass to country to hip hop to rock and more. I think it would be great if NC would do a music trail for tourism.
