A key factor is also Toyota took some states out of the running because they already have toyota plants, Alabama also has a toyota plant, so I find that interesting, in the end all toyota really wants is that incentive package they conjured up.

The sexual allegations with the judge in Alabama could in part throw a monkey wrench in Alabama's bid should that guy get elected to congress. A big part of Toyota's decision will be politics.

I'm not disagreeing, but what about Mazda, don't they also have a say in this decision, you make it seem like Toyota is running the show and Mazda is some sort of red headed step-child?

This is the game changer the Triad has been needing for decades. 1.6B just to build the facility. Then the multiplier effect of an auto plant is enormous. 4k jobs could easily turn into 15-20k. I don't think a lot of people realize how big winning the bid would be.

I agree, especially when you factor in what kind of auto plant it will be (making electric cars along with gasoline vehicles). And it will be like having two auto plants in one with Toyota and Mazda. It will also be the only plant in the United States to assemble Mazdas. BMW has done wonders for the Greenville, SC area. This would benefit the entire Triad not just the immediate Greensboro area. Take HondaJet for example. While the headquarters and assembly plant is in Greensboro, the engines for those jets are built in Burlington. Having both HondaJet and a Toyota-Mazda assembly plant in the area would also help generate more interest for the hundreds of acres near PTI for another big fish.

the Triad has only one major Japanese manufacture(Honda jet) that entire facility was originally supposed to have been built at Narita international in Tokyo in 2008.

How it wound up in Greensboro is still a blessing to this day.

In fact is that the only full Japanese manufacture facity in the state?

And I mean, R&D, Manufacturing and headquarters.

And then there was one. Rocky Mount area site is out which leaves the Greensboro-Randolph megasite the lone site left. Its also been the only site that has seen a lot of activity over the past month with black helicopters hovering over the site and buses going into the site with tents for meetings.

Report: Chatham County, Rocky Mount megasites to miss out on Toyota/Mazda plant | Local Business | greensboro.com
