The crazy thing is that North Carolina lost past deals because the incentives package wasn't big enough. North Carolina finally put together a big incentives package and it lost the deal for another reason. It will be interesting to see what happens with Nissan. Will they follow the same pattern as Toyota and build the plant near existing Nissan parts facilities. If thats the case, Tennessee will be North Carolina's competition.

It's like the chicken and the egg.

Nissan is just speculating as of now; they are talking about a potential facility four or five years out and haven't announced anything.

At the minimum, it's something to keep an eye. And who knows. Maybe the absurd incentives offered to T/M will help Nissan give NC a strong look. Hopefully the Greensboro/Randolph Megasite.

We have a good shot. North Carolina sticks out like a sore thumb not having an autoplant. Combine that with incentives, skilled labor force and infrastructure, it not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

By that time, Florida and Virginia may also want in so it could be increased competition as well, in addition to the usual players (SC, GA, AL, MS, TN, etc.).
