USA Today has ranked Greensboro the safest city in America to drive. Charlotte ranked number 8.

To be honest, I wouldn't have guessed this would be the case (I would have thought somewhere in the Midwest maybe), but this is an interesting determination. I wonder if this only includes within the city limits, or the Greensboro-High Point MSA.

By the way, Charlotte is the 8th worst, not the 8th best.

Lol you are right. I had to question that myself because driving in Charlotte is terrible. I almost got run off the road twice the last time I was there.

Looks like its just Greensboro, not the metro

No problem, I had to re-read it myself as the article was awkwardly formatted on the website. And I've experienced the same in Charlotte, particularly one time in a tight parking deck Uptown. It was quite scary how little regard the rude drivers had for even minimal civility or anyone's safety: honking, whizzing around and not paying the slightest bit of attention to anything around them.

Alot of it has to do with the fact that Greensboro isn't going through the same meteoric growth that Charlotte is. Traffic and driver safety is one of the hardest hit areas of significant population spikes.

Also add to the fact that Greensboro has arguably the best highway system in the state.
