I've never anywhere near the 4x premium, but I'd say on average it might be 50% more to fly out of Greensboro. I love flying out of Greensboro...it's always a matter of price (and the premium, if any, of flying out of GSO/PTI). We'd fly out locally more often if there were more nonstop flights.

Also, the hottest average high temperature for Kernersville is 87, and the warmest average low temperature us 70. Of course, those are averages and doesn't take into account humidity - which, as you mentioned, will likely be a welcome relief for OP.

I agree with you, Emelvee - it is much more convenient to fly out of Greensboro! I priced a flight, post-holiday, from GSO to JFK that was around $800. Similar flights were less than $200 out of Raleigh. Maybe I will look at flights that pass through CLT out of GSO - sounds like a cheaper way to go.

My best to you!

Thanks to all for the info. Hope we can make a decision before too long. Today in Jax: 84 degrees, 68% humidity (not bad for here!). Santa is gonna be real confused about what time of year it is when he comes here!

$800 to NYC from GSO is insane. We almost always use GSO if we’re going to New York. We’ve gotten nonstop flights to LGA for under $200 (round) many times. Don’t think there are any direct flights to JFK, but I just did a search for a random 4-day trip in January from GSO to JFK and I got a flight for $218. Has to connect, but still.

We have good luck with Chicago and DC from GSO too. Other cities—Boston, for example— tend to be way cheaper and easier from RDU.

To you as well! Another reason I price all 3 airports: we fly to Las Vegas next month. Booked RDU > CLT > LAS and it was considerably less expensive than CLT > LAS. Any of the 3 largest airports might be least expensive for a given route.
