Hi. I am in need of a recommendation for a local moving company. Ideally, they would provide full service start to finish. Please reply to this post with your recommendation! Thanks in advance for your help!

OK: I just moved several days ago from WSalem to SC. Did a lot of research. Most helpful was the internet search, as there is a site (sorry forgot name) that lists the kudos/complaints of local companies.

FYI: I chose Allied/local business EXCEL MOVING. Based on reviews mainly. Found that the office in WS has several times in 2000s been the nationwide Allied winner for superior service! That says a lot. No BBB complaints in last yr.

Well: the estimator came out and gave a solid/lock-in quote. But he really talked a lot so I called the co to say the inventory list did not include all I was planning to move~

Moving day: they were late-wrong address (I had called the day prior to tell them they had the address wrong). But after that, things went smoothly. The guys were respectful and experienced. The driver was a bit controlling and bossy, but he had a big job to do....the weather stripping on the PELLA sliding glass door was damaged but all else ok. Just took a long time. They did determine the estimate of weight was low but I was locked into price so not my problem.

Moving in day: all went ok. So far finding nothing broken or damaged except 2 glasses that I packed.....

Over all, I was pleased. Just watch out for what one CDer called FOT, meaning they will tell you something you are missing on arrival "fell off the truck", or in other words they took it! (not speaking of this Allied crew).

DO NOT USE INTERNET COMPANIES.....and good luck, the day is total h#ll but you forget how bad as the days go by.....
