200 jobs could be coming to downtown Greensboro. The city would like the company to lease space in the old Gateway Center which is now being renovated.

The Gateway Center (the old Wrangler Bluebell Jeans mill) is fitting for their offices. Currently under renovation. Its one of the very few old industrial factories downtown. Andy Zimmerman is also trying to attract a grocery store in the building.

Even more important, these appear to be 200+ well paying jobs. Looks as if the average pay would be about $54K and while I know average can be manipulated, I don't imagine it's likely to be a bunch of $10-12/hr jobs either.

Its always great to attract high paying jobs to town. Even better when they come downtown. These are "creative class" type jobs. This is what we need more of downtown. Some of these jobs are design jobs and others executive. So is this a headquarters move to Greensboro or are they moving some executive jobs here. The business journal is making it sound like they are choosing between New York City and Greensboro. The company is already based in the Empire State Building. Nevertheless, this is great news after the city losing VF Corp.

More recent photo of the old Wrangler jeans factory downtown Centric is looking to move into. Its located at the corner of South Elm Street and Gate City Blvd., across the street from the Union Square University campus.

Pay wall. One city leaders says "this is a big one" its not just jobs but the kind of jobs".

Landing these jobs downtown could set the pace for future job growth in the central business district. When you land one you land another and another. Downtown has been very successful at landing entertainment, hotels, residential, restaurants and cultural attractions but has always struggled attracting companies. That could soon change.
