info about Grensboro (Greensboro, Ahoskie, Hudson: relocate, real estate, job)

I live in NY, I like north carolina mostly for the weather, I have a sister who live close to Ahoskie,NC, I plan to buy a house in Greensboro-Winston Salem area.
Could you please give me some info about these two communities, in tems of job opportunities, crime rate, best or worst neighborood in Grensboro. A real estate company sends me everyday info about new construction, I do not know anything. they tried to tell me that the community is great but I need some objective comments. please help.

I read someone comment in city-data describing grensboro as the worst. buying a house is a very important decision, I cannot go the next day and return it to the real eastate. Your comment will be highly appreciated.

I am a realtor who relocated here some 20 years ago. I am from the Hudson River Valley area of New York. I am not sure of the negative publicity you may have received about this area and I won't proport that Greensboro is the best thing since sliced bread...as every town has it's good and bad points. What I will say is that it is a growing area and the culture and climate is wonderful here. It is a great place to raise children, for employment opportunities, recreation and shopping. The housing market is prolific and the weather is great as we experience all 4 seasons. The crime rate has grown some over the last several years but mainly due to increased population.

City Data is a great resource to compare WS and GSO. My brother lives in Winston and I live here in Greensboro. I am fond of both locations. What communities specifically did a realtor mention to you? I use to be an on site agent working at different neihborhoods and can probably give you all the info you need on any of them. Just let me know and I'll be happy to assist you in your search efforts. Regards!
