I noticed a few weeks ago gas prices are lower in W-S than GSO. I've only been here since November - and have puzzled over gas prices. When I lived in CLT I knew to get the best prices - cross the state line to SC for gas $ .25- $ .30 cheaper!!!

I drove to Roanoke Tuesday and WOW!!! Leaving Battleground and New Garden to Summerfield - $ .10 cheaper.... as I went north $$ .25 to $ .40 cheaper!!

What's going on?

NC gas tax is 36.2 cents per gallon, VA is 16.2 cents.

But they're not lower in Greensboro, which is what the OP was saying. Having the tank farm seems to do nothing to lower the price.

As to the reason they may be cheaper in Virginia is because their gas tax is lower.

NC indexes the state gas tax.
VA does not.

I have to drive to Lexington from Greensboro on weekends. Gas is cheaper on South Holden than it is around here (Battleground/Banjamin). It's way cheaper in Lexington and Thomasville.
