Well, I think you are living in one of the best areas for uplifting Baptist Churches.
I'm in WS and started going to Center Grove Baptist in Clemmons. Love it. Lots of music and a great sermon, but it isn't fire and brimstone or passionately loud. It's quite contemporary and different, but I'm from a traditional New England Baptist background, which is very quiet!

I feel you. I was in GBO the weekend of Easter for a job interview and I did not want to miss service, just because I wasn't at home. So I asked one of the hotel staff to recommend a church. Service was awesome! I made the mistake of assuming service started at 11, but it started at 10...so I missed some of the kid's Easter program. Try Destiny Christian Center, 560 Farragut St, 27406. It was right off of I-40, exit 36. Map it out, you'll like it.

If you are ever in Charlotte and want to get your Praise on...try (It isn't Baptist...but you would enjoy)
New Life Fellowship Church 1337 Samuel St. (Double Oaks Community) Home of John P. Kee...he also has a Christian (Gospel) Radio Station here in Charlotte called... Praise 100.9 FM...home of the Yolanda Adams Morning Show...excellent Gospel Station. Now that is getting your Praise on... Be BLESSED!

To me picking a church should be almost in your neighborhood or close by so that once you develop friendships they are within your local vicinity of your home.
North Carolina and Winston has many baptist churches for you to choose from you can see a list here Churches in Winston-Salem, North Carolina I only request to make sure they are not affiliated with the Southern Baptists due to I think they have backwards thinking but that just my opinion.
