Yeah, I made the mistake of making eye contact with a hooker on Randleman road, she gave me a suggestive, toothless tongue gesture and I gave her the roar of a diesel as I sped to the on ramp.

Primarily, what one sees in our cities (as far as "street-walking" is concerned) is the occasional hooker hanging on a block or perhaps walking as if she's actually going somewhere. For the most part, we have escorts here (call and meet hookers). They're usually much more expensive (and not necessarily cleaner) than girls from the street (they're typically erotic dancers who turn tricks on the side). We had massage parlors, as well, until a few years ago when the city began requiring a massage therapy license in order to operate such businesses. And then, there's always the internet, which has created a new culture of prostitution that's prevalent everywhere.
High Point has perhaps the highest concentration, followed by Winston and then Greensboro, but I'm not sure that the police depts' records would support that, due to varied emphases on anti-prostitution enforcement between cities. Many of the housing projects around here might have the greatest density of street-walking girls at any given time, but many girls prefer not to work where they live. Escorts and other hookers also spend a lot of time around cheap motels. You might notice them at bus stops near such establishments often.

Properly regulated and legalized for brothels only this could remove the potential for street walkers.

If we made specific brothels for people with specific diseases then they wouldn't want to mess with innocent people to ease their needs.

If we had these people clearly segregated and licensed then why would someone risk a street walker? We could also free up the entire sting force to deal with them versus attacking massage parlors or whatever.

Prostitution being legal and properly managed by government is one of the most practical win/win situations ever presented. There is no non-moralist/non-strawhat argument supporting making this illegal, it is just a garbage law and waste of our dollars.

yes, there are prostitutes in Greensboro who walk the streets looking to be picked up but there are not nearly as many as there once was and they are less visible but they are still out there. JJ drive off Randleman Road was a hotbed until the Southgate Motor Inn was torn down. Around four in the morning several girls can be seen but normally they get off the streets around five or a little after. Florida street near High Point Road has a few as do the back streets off MLK.

Former Police Chief David Wray was brought down because of the "Black Book" which was used in an investigation of a police officer accused by a prostitute of a sex crime. Now Captain Hinson was suspected of being involved in drugs and prostitution but apparently managed to espcape prosecution.

The book "Queen of Southgate" is a good source to learn of the prostitution trade in Greensboro. The book is now out of print but a shorter version is available for download at lulu.com as "Southgate" and on Amazon.com.

The prostitution problem, as far as street prostitution is concerned, is much worse in High Point, or so it seems as it is more confined than in Greensboro.

It's a poorer area of town, so I'm not really surprised. That being said, as another poster noted, it's nothing like large metros. I used to know where they hung out in Winston, but it's not nearly as overt as it would be in a place like NYC.
