Does anyone live in Burlington?
The Burlington threads look a little old, so I thought I'd ask here. I got a job offer today that came in stronger than one in Greensboro, and Atlanta. I was shocked! Anywho, was wondering if anyone actually lives there and if so, could tell me why they like it? I was able to visit for a day, but couldn't really get a feel. I have a teenaged son who I need to sell on the place. Pls help!

We live in Graham, just next door to Burlington and we love the area. I work in Burlington near downtown in the older section. But I do most of my shopping in Burlington and there are alot of newer areas where new apartments, condos and homes are being and have been built that I see driving around. Sorry that I am not that familiar with zip codes or anyting. Elon and Graham are close by as I am sure are other cities that I am blank on right now. Don't have an kids at home but I know some of the college kids from Elon University and they all go to Greensboro for fun. Also I am not familiar with the schools in Burlington. But we have quite a few teachers in our complex that work in the Graham schools and they say they are good schools.
Gee. Seems like I haven't been much help. We just did a lot of research and came up from Florida a few times to check out different areas. You might want to contact a real estate agent (I am not one) and they could give you much better information than I did.
Good luck.

i live in the other direction of Catrick--next town over from burlington in Mebane. we go into burlington for church and some shopping. i prefer Mebane though as a place to live. it is prettier and somewhat "safer".
but there are lots of good things about burlington...lots of restaurants, there is a mall, lots of smaller stores, diversity (although Mebane is also diverse)

I live in south Graham and it takes me about 10 minutes to get to work and I do not have to take the highway. Of course if I am running late I will hit every light and it might go 15 minutes.
I leave work at 5:30 and generally do not encounter much traffic on my way home. Parts of Church Street can get a little slow and Huffman Mill from the highway to Church Street can get congested. But nothing that I consider too heavy or time consuming. (Although I am coming from South Florida which is always congested.)

Raiyshe-do you specific questions about the area? I live here currently-on a temp. job assignment-have been here for about a year. Where are you moving from (big city?) will you be purchasing a home or renting? Ask away..............

Thx Juleecat!
I am from Philly, but have been living in VA Beach for 2 years. Dollars just aren't going far enough these days, so I thought I'd venture further south. I originally thought the cost of living would be less there, but not so much. I just don't want to up and move, only to find I am stuck somewhere boring, still living paycheck to paycheck. VA Beach has lots of restaurants, and in the summer there is always something free to do. We like outdoor concerts and ethnic festivals. How would one find out what's happening around town?

I live south of I-85/I-40 in Burlington, but outside of the city limits. I live in a quite newer neighborhood with large lots, but only pay county taxes. The cool part is that it is a quiet country setting, but I can be at all of Burlington's new shopping or in downtown Burlington in about 10 minutes. Burlington keeps getting more and more new shopping areas and restaraunts. Greensboro is about 25-30 minutes away and Durham/Chapel Hill is about 30 minutes away. There isn't much of a night life in Burlington though (not too many clubs or bars), so you would need to go to Greensboro or Durham/Chapel Hill/Raleigh for that.

I actually live IN burlington, have lived here most of my life. Went off to college and came back.
Burlington is a really nice city, it's building up a lot. Starting to become a burb of Raleigh and Greensboro, so traffic is getting a little hectic. All teens that live here say "there's nothing to do" being 23 years old now, I can say that..no matter what city you live in, you'll say "theres nothing to do" You'll be about 25 minutes from Greensboro only 45 min from raleigh. Lots of great stuff to do in both towns. Burlington is really pretty, always has lots going on.
Pet friendly, kid friendly. Elon University is there, so obviously it can't be too boring for all the college kids the stay around.
I really like Burlington, great place to raise a family.
