There is one set of condos on Marshall Street in Winston Salem called Academy Park - these are older places that have a great floor design. Each unit has a patio or balcony + a garage. There are other condos in the Marshall Street area that I believe, may also be set up similarly. If I were you, I would reach out to a realtor who can send you listings that are tailored for what you are seeking. Good luck!
OP isn't looking to walk to stores or restaurants, just safely walk around the neighborhood for exercise.

Thank you both. Speaking with a realtor is next, and for now spending time on Zillow and on Realtor.com. The terminology is the hang up, but we are getting there. I appreciate the input.

Bermuda Run is, according to the information I can find, gates and golf courses. According to the census, the population is 98.95 percent white. Kind of place for many of our current Florida neighbors, but not for us. Nice homes for sale, though.
Hoping to find something more diverse. Thank you, sstill going through some of your other suggestions.

Yes, it has a golf course, and I'm sure it is not diverse. I was unaware that was one of your criteria. I don't *think* its gated although some sections may be. But I may be wrong. Nonetheless, its in your price range and is very walkable. It struck me as the type of development/neighborhood you were looking for, so maybe I still don't understand. Best of luck to you!

I grew up in Green Valley in Greensboro. It was and still is a convenient neighborhood. Bicentennial Garden and Bog Garden are both in walking distance. It wasn't diverse when I was a kid (loooong ago)but it sure is now.

To piggyback off this, there are are a few side streets off of Hobbs Road that offer the "villa" type housing that the thread starter might be looking for. Have no idea if any of them are for sale though.
