Question Gutters...are they needed.

I am buying a new construction house and it has no gutters. The builder says that the house does not need gutters. I have researched online and asked some people, I keep getting conflicting information. Some say yes, others say no.

I would be concern of living in a house without gutters the water run off from the roof destroying the foundation of the home and causing window rot

I also would be concern about trying to open the doors and windows of the home during a rain storm without having run off from the roof land on you.

I would get gutters with gutter guards if you have trees.

Agree!

And they are relatively inexpensive. A good investment for your home.

They quoted a price of $800 for a 1800 sq. ft. single story. Good price?

I dont know about how to negotiate the price when another party is involved but you can google gutters plus the city you are moving into and call some of the local places and see how much they charge for gutters and installation.

Good luck
