Default A few W-S Questions

We were in town yesterday for two reasons:

1. To pick up some BBQ from Little Richards.
2. To go to the races at Bowman-Gray.

Since we haven't been aroung W-S in a while, there were a few things I noticed that I'm curious about:

1. There's a Diner (I don't remember the name) near the end of Hanes Mall Blvd., one of those shiny stainless-steel types. Is that new? Is it the real deal?

2. What's the deal with the downtown baseball field being built?

3. I noticed a lot of people out along 4th Street, sitting outside of what seems like a lot of new cafes and restaurants. That was really nice to see. How are they doing? Are they popular spots for folks to hangout?

4. Bowman-Gray added a new multi-story structure at the end of the track, along with a new scoreboard and signal lights. No one I've asked seems to know what it is. Anyone know?

I am only in my second year living in W-S, so here is what I know so far:

To answer ques# 1: It is Billy Bob's Silver Diner. I have never eaten there, so I can't give you first hand info.

About Us - Billy Bob's Silver Diner (broken link)

#2 - The stadium being built is for the Class A Winston-Salem Warthogs, but other events will be held there too. The proposal includes "In addition to a 5,500-seat baseball stadium, the overall development would put a 30-acre village of stores, residences, offices, restaurants and a movie theater between Broad Street, Peters Creek Parkway, Business 40 and Brookstown Avenue."

#3 - Downtown is trying to be revitalized, especially 4th St. You probably saw a lot of people eating outside of Mellow Mushroom. They tend to have the biggest outdoor crowd. I personally like the Foothills Brewery for beer and Mellow Mushroom for pizza and beer. Trade Street is also cool.

#4 I am clueless. Sorry!

I ate at Billy Bob's and it was okay. It was during the lunch hour. I seem to recall that a lot of people go there for breakfast.

Default answer to #4

I think the structure you are speaking of @ Bowman Gary Stadium is a field house makeover for for WSSU home football games.
