Default Garden Shops -Arborist, Winston Salem

I'm looking for a garden shop/nursery in the W/S area. We're doing major landscaping. I've been to Lowes, Home Depot, L A Reynolds and the Farmers Market. Am I missing any place as good or better? Also looking for an Arborist to look at our old oak tree.

For a recommendation on a arborist, try the Forsyth County > Cooperative Extension Service or the person who writes gardening features for the Winston-Salem Journal - David Bare at gardening@wsjournal.com

I found a really good greenhouse and nursey in King a couple of years ago after the paper ran an article on their poinsettias... Mitchell's 1088 W Dalton Rd, King 336-983-4107

There's a couple on south stratford, one is the briarpatch(i think) and the other is Meyer's. We've been to meyer's many, many times over the past couple of months and they have very good quality plants. They are just south of Clemmonsville rd on stratford.

As far as an arborist, we had a tree come down partially over the neighbors shed and used Fred Gingerich of Eaglewood Treeworks. He did a great job and it looked like he had never been there. I would definitely recommend him.

Another recommendation for the Briar Patch on Stratford, west of Hanes Mall Blvd. Very knowledgeable staff, beautiful plants. A lot of knick knacky things inside that can get in the way, or not if you're into that sort of thing. A great place to find an unusual gift, too.
