Default Looking to move to Greensboro from Jersey

Hello everyone,
I recently some family members move to Greensboro and they love it, so my family and I are thinking about making the move as well. Bergen County, and NJ in general, is out of control and we want to raise our family in a nice quiet community.

We are planning to head down and see it for ourselves. We have heard nothing but good things. I've been looking for design work (if anyone knows any recruiters in the design field please let me know) and have spent a lot of time looking at the different areas and communities.

From the pictures and realestate sites, we like the areas close to Lakes Jeanette and Lake Townsend. Some feedback about these neighborhoods would be fantastic.

I also have a more general question about the areas being developed...in the established communities, do they plant trees and vegitation? The houses in the realestate pictures look like they are in barren areas, and I'm assuming it's because they are in areas under construction.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
-I

Hey Jersey, can't help you with your specific questions, but I know many of them have been answered before on this site. Search back on the old threads going several months back and you should learn a lot. Good luck!

I can't answer your questions specifically but, wanted to let you know that moving from Jersey to Greensboro, you'll be in good company. We also moved from Jersey (but decided on the Charlotte area), and know of many folks from the old neighborhood whom landed in Greensboro. The big deciding factor against it for us was the weaker job market in comparison to the Charlotte area.

Like loves said, do a search, you'll find similar threads and many responses. Good luck with your journey and welcome to the boards.

Thanks again for the responses.

Anyone have feedback on my specific questions?

1. Design work - recruiters and headhunters
2. Hows the Lake Jeanette/Lake Townsend area? 27405/27455
3. Do the new developments eventually end up a little "Greener?"

Thanks again,
-I

Greensboro ROCKS!! You'll love it. The area you're talking about especially zip code 27455 is AWESOME. It's a little expensive (high property taxes also) but coming from NJ, it'll be nickles and dimes to you. Check out Northern Shores neighborhood, it's very nice to say the least. As for Design work, sorry I am not sure about that, the job market in general is not that great in Greensboro which is the reason I moved. As for the neighborhoods being "Greener", that just sounds funny especially since the name is "Greens"boro. You've just been looking at bad pictures and/or neighborhoods, once you see it in person you'll see what I mean, it's green and then some. It's a great move for you, good luck!

1. Sorry...I'm no help here.
2. Lake Jeanette/Lake Townsend are the higher end pricing of local real estate. What price range are you in?
3. A lot of developers put in minimum landscaping. It really depends on the subdivision. A lot of the lake areas are on protected shorelines, so more trees are there. If you are into lots of green landscaping, look into some of the older neighborhoods, like Sunset Hills and Fisher Park.

Another Jerzy here! and a designer too!

I moved here Nov 1st to get out Bergen County and that crazy real estate market. I have family in Raleigh which is still close enough to visit for the day. My company is actually looking for a designer... if you can email snazy22@hotmail.com your resume I could pass it along.

Try www.creativehotlist.com or www.newsandrecord.com

Checked out new developments over the past few months... add at least 25,000$ to the price listed because that's the "hidden" costs to the upgrades. And they are some AWESOME houses! Like ones you would find in Mahwah or Upper Saddle River. Watch out though, because a lot of them are putting these big houses on tiny lots. I could have stayed in Jerzy for that!
