hi - i'm moving this month to greensboro from venice florida. i likely have about two 26 foot trucks worth of stuff and would like to keep this move reasonable in cost as well as not get a quote that then changes radically once the trucks/trucks take off. any suggestions?

Venice?!?! Why would you move
I would LOVE to go back there!! I plan on moving back one day... you can never have enough sharks teeth. ![]() I will tell you when I made the move (from Sarasota to Raleigh) we used Penske and it was about 800...but, I will warn you that the truck broke down at 4 am in Savannah, GA and it ended up be a LONG ORDEAL. But, that was the most reasonable price I could find (this was a year ago). If you end up having more money than that (I didn't!! ) I would suggest using the POD storage, since they move it for you...but, it does get pricey.I only say that because when we moved we had a two bedroom apt. and our truck was so full, we had to give away half of our furniture the night before the move. We literally started throwing everything away... so get the BIGGEST size you can! Good luck!!! |

My boyfriend and I moved from Tampa FL & had a little over a one-bedroom apt worth of stuff (had some stuff in storage), and we used a 22' Peneske truck. We had TONs of room still in there. Was super cheap, only about $535 including the tow dolly. Largest truck they have is 26' though I think. Still, we had NO issues with Penske, they were great, except that driver's seat is super uncomfortable (bring pillows). If you happen to tell them your move date and change your mind, they will change the date no questions asked, no fees, no hassles. You pay nothing til you pick up the truck. AND if you tell them you've noticed that their rate has decreased on their website since you first put in the order, they will meet the current rate instead of using the older, higher rate. So just watch their website and get a big truck when they're cheap (and if the rate gets higher later, they won't charge you extra since you got in under the low rate). The price is based on how many trucks they have available in that size, apparently.
But if you have MORE than a 26' truck's worth... I don't know. You'll have to hire a moving service, and watch out for scams. I've heard of moving company scams where they hold your stuff hostage until you pay extra "convenience fees" and other bogus BS. Good luck to you! |
