There are a number of bad areas in the zip area 27406 which is most of Southeast Greensboro. I live in 27406 but its in one of the good areas (Southside in downtown Greensboro)

I would say that $650 is too much if it is a marginal area. You can get a place in the best areas of the city for $600. I have places in Lake Daniel and Latham Park area (27408) for $500-$600 for 2BR.

Yeah, at Yester Oaks Apts you can get something in the 600 range easy and the location is sooooo nice. The apts are old, and don't have a microwave but the layout is nice and so are the people. We have a pool, a kiddie pool and a playground here. I'd have to say it's a well integrated area - so far I've met people who are black, middle eastern, white and Asian! Some born here, some not, in each of those categories. That's my idea of heaven!

Be careful of the area you're considering......I'd look elsewhere if you can. There are a lot of zip codes for Greensboro....that isn't one that I'd consider. I'm from Greensboro and in the past 50 yrs, that one area has gone downhill the most. There are some areas in the most southern area of that zip code that is still OK, but probably won'st stay that way.

Tangent here but semi-related, but can someone explain the explosion of listings in the MLS in 27405/06? I've been keeping my eye on the listings just to stay on top of things, but have noticed in the last couple of months that there are tons of listings popping up in those two zips specifically.
Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm...my guess is that lower income families were offered some of those Prime mortgages and when the rates and gas went up, they were the first to suffer from foreclosure. That's just own little shot in the dark there. A realtor might be able to give you a more educated guess. *shrug*

Also, the 27406 zip code is the largest in Greensboro. That, along with the population density in that zip code, could affect RE listings.

What are some of the areas of 27406 that have good/great schools and low crime? What is Forest Oaks like? Is that 27406? Thanks~ Angie
