Are the areas near UNCG generally safe? (Greensboro: apartment, for rent)

I may need to secure an apartment in Greensboro before getting there. I'm going to be working at UNCG, so I'd like to live in a house or apt. near UNCG.....walking distance preferably. I'm wondering if this is usually safe and nice?

I would say that most are safe, but Glenwood has a reputation of being one of the least safe. I have a 3BR/2BA apt for rent that is 2 miles (5 minute drive) from UNCG in a safe neighborhood. Anywho, to help you on your quest, he is a link to the greensboro crime map:
