Default Downtown Winston-Salem

For those interested in living and/or working in downtown Winston-Salem, here's a link to the Downtown W-S Partnership's newsletters: Downtown Winston-Salem News Lots of good information.

I don't know why anyone would want to live in downtown W-S. The downtown area is definitely not appealing like some other cities. The city leaders and (the developers) wish it was...but it's not, and I don't see that happening for a long, long time - if ever.

Same thing with Greensboro. There is nothing going on there.

I lived in downtown W-S (ok, just south of downtown near Old Salem) for 10 years and LOVED it. We recently moved due to hubby's job transfer. For anyone who thinks there's nothing to do or that downtown W-S has no redeeming qualities, read wsnc62's recent post on page 5 of the topic titled "Winston-Salem."

I started this topic in order to provide a good resource for people. It's disappointing that the first two replies are negative slams.

Downtown W-S is very clean and nice...as a former resident of the Historic West End...it is a fine place to live. Now live in Uptown Charlotte in Historic 4th Ward. I prefer Urban living myself. Winston-Salem has the 2nd best downtown (most buildings & hotels & appearance)...other than Charlotte in all of NC!

If I ever moved back to W-S...it would be to the downtown area.

Downtown W-S has as much going for it as any center city other than Charlotte. Greensboro is nice too...but not any nicer than downtown W-S.
