We are relocating to the WS area. My husband will be working in Welcome. We are looking at the Clemmons, Lewisville area. Can you tell me anything about this area. Are their other nice areas. We are looking for small town feel but not too rural. $280,000 home price with 1/2 acre or more. Any neighborhoods we should look at?
Thanks for any help.
Patti

Default Winston Salem

We use to live in a town called Kernersville. It is outside WS. I understand it has really grown and is still growing. The people were nice and friendly. You might want to visit the area just to see.

If your husband's working in Welcome, then I'd try to stick to Winston-Salem itself...perhaps the southern/southwestern corners. Commuting to Welcome from Lewisville would be a major headache. My dad had to commute to that area from the northern part of Winston for a while---hated it!

I grew up in Clemmons...it was/is a great place to raise a family. Good schools, nice people, near the city, nice houses, etc. There is one thing about it that I didn't realize - Clemmons is 94% white. It's not like people there are racist, and I'm sure 99% of people in Clemmons would welcome neighbors of another race. I guess black folks just don't wanna live there?

My parents live in Meadowbrook. It's one of the older subdivisions but really beautiful with big old trees and lakes. There are lots of others that are newer, but check out www.clemmons.org for more information.
Lewisville is much the same as Clemmons but a little smaller in population I think?
